The weight of hisotry

Kids nowadays are so obnoxious. First they label me an auntie, show off their awesome skills in front of me, and then hunted the neighbourhood cat down. Hey pal, the cat and I have been in the block for a far longer time than you have so back off and show some respect for us veterans.

...

On a light note, I went to watch Valkrie last night. I first became inetrested in it when some descendent of the lead charcter complained that Tom Cruise was too short and stocky to play von Stauffenburg. I agree. The height disparity between him and Bill Nighy who plays Olbricht is painful to watch, but he has to be credited for giving an intriguing performance. Anyway, the film is an insight to the July 20 plot to assasinate Hitler, (The last of FIFTEEN attempts. Shouldn't Hitler have noticed that he's not very popular?), with the help of Valkrie (Wakure) which was the Reserve army of the Nazis, to seize and take control of the government. A military coup, in other words. It almost succeeded, only to fail at the last minute when the messenger decided to switch sides.

Hello New Year

School started this week. I thought I might have a problem adjusting to the early hours and all that after 3 or more months of slacking at home doing nothing, but I slipped right back in the schedule. I realised that lots of people (from the 07 batch) have been getting jobs, earning pay, firing off uni applications and moving off with their 'adult' life and here I am stuck with a maths lecture test next monday. How nice. To be honest, I felt kind of left out. But as my dad likes to say, we must sui yuan. At least 7C's a really wonderful class to be in, so I feel right at home with them.

Talking about 7C...well, the whole class is really behaving themselves, at least in the first week of the year. Even the resident MIA has buckled down and gave himself a 'studious look', in his own words, to match his new mugging nature by cutting a really nerdy hairstyle and wearing huge ancient-looking glasses. =D And everyone has been attending class concientiously and punctually, firstly because we are all too aware of what an important year this is for us, and secondly becuase we are sitting at the front of the LT/Audi for almost every lecture (thanks to our past track record). Attendance has been dutifully taken for EVERY lesson. And the demerit point system has been adjusted to a permanent one to deter us from misbehaving...thanks in part to the previous batch actually.

Well at least we are only a week away from CNY. Everyone's really looking forward to the long break, coz we're all feeling so xian and still in a holiday mood. I hope CNY would be fun. I can't really bear to look at what comes after CNY, but for now, let me jus enjoy my new year in peace. thanks.
